Position Summary:

NSTS is seeking talented Nuclear Safety Engineers to work on site at Hanford, WA supporting the PFP. This is an excellent opportunity to work right on an important decommissioning project at the Hanford site.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Using discretion and independent judgment, prepare Safety Bases Documents which comply with 10 CFR 830, DOE Standards, and PRC procedures.
  • Develop and maintain nuclear safety documents including DSAs, TSRs, Hazard Analysis and Control Decision Documents.
  • Interface with senior management and RL to resolve nuclear safety issues.
  • Provide daily to weekly written and verbal communication with PRC engineering staff, RL and DNFSB staff.
  • Provide regular verbal and written communication with senior PRC management and DOE-HQ staff.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, mathematics, physics or a related technical field with a minimum of 2 years of directly related experience (10+ years of experience preferred), or a combination of experience and education, as a nuclear safety engineer under 10 CFR 830.
  • Knowledgeable of 10 CFR 830, DOE-STD-3009, DOE-STD-1120 and DOE-STD-1189 requirements.
  • Knowledge of Unreviewed Safety Question requirements.
  • Ability to negotiate nuclear safety control strategies with all stakeholders.
  • Capable of presenting logical persuasive arguments. Must be able to resolve cross cutting issues with PRC management and RL.
  • US citizen or Permanent Resident.
