Position Summary:

NSTS is seeking talented Nuclear Criticality Safety Engineers to work on site at Hanford, WA supporting the PFP. This is an excellent opportunity to work right on an important decommissioning project at the Hanford site.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Perform Criticality Safety Evaluations (CSEs) and calculations in accordance with 10 CFR 830, DOE standards and Hanford PRC procedures, to support D&D activities at the Hanford site PFP.
  • Perform independent technical reviews of CSEs and calculations generated by other engineers.
  • Assist with procedure development and implementation of the governing PRC Criticality Safety Program.
  • Ensure that software/code work for performing CSEs are verified and validated and ensure that calculations performed for each CSE are validated.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in nuclear engineering, physics or a related technical field plus a minimum of five years of experience working as a criticality safety engineer.
  • Experience in developing criticality safety calculations evaluations compliant with the Department of Energy standard DOE-STD-3007 (2007), or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and application experience in the ANSI/ANS-8 series standards.
  • Experience in process hazards analyses and related hazard evaluation techniques.
  • US citizen or Permanent Resident.
